The Story
EXPOSURE could be described as a portrait of an American neighborhood.
The story takes place in a small New England town and contains four storylines that thread together. Though
the characters face different challenges, what the storylines have in common is something many of us share—the difficulty
in moving on from past disappointments to create a new present and a hopeful future.
ROBERT SARDELLA has lived in his hometown his entire life, and he likes
it that way. But when his old girlfriend, JULIA CONRAD, moves back to Eastbury, he's forced to reconsider
the choices he made and the girl he never forgot.
Like many young men, LUKE DAWSON, senior at UCONN
and guard on the basketball team, feels the pressure of having his whole life in front of him. After he injures
his knee for the second time, he must think about the challenges in his future and the disappointments in his past.
MARY DAVIDSON, a woman who clings to religion
to avoid pain, yearns for a child. But what happens when God doesn't hear her prayers?
MAUREEN GARNER has everything--healthy kids, a patient husband, financial
security. Only a fool would be unhappy. This is what she tells herself every day.
EXPOSURE
depicts people who yearn for something they cannot imagine. As with most neighborhoods, the families' lives intersect
in ways that are significant and ordinary. When a tragedy occurs, the people of Eastbury react in different ways depending
on what difficulties they are trying to surmount or escape.
